Little Miss Nugget

Little Miss Nugget

Hello Friends,

Todays post is a long awaited, I hope you are ready for it. Here is the story about the adventure of getting my puppy! Now I have wanted a dog of my own since I left home where my family dogs are. Growing up I always had a dog so it was quite different and lonely living without one. I went through a few years of no dog and well that has now changed!

One night I was having a few glasses of wine and I found the dog ads on kijiji…yup you can probably figure out where that went. Initially I was searching up golden doodles because I have wanted one for a few years now. If you ask my sister it is literally the only one I wanted! However, kijiji popped aussiedoodles into the recommended section. I thought to myself, what the heckin bob is that? I had never heard of that breed before.

As some of you might know, it is a mix between a poodle and an Australian shepherd. Two very intelligent and athletic breeds. Well, I clicked on the ad and these puppies were so adorable I thought to myself, “Oh you can go see them, there is no harm in that. You don’t need to get one!”…. that was all a lie and I knew it, however I went to see them anyways!

When I got to this lady’s house (about 1.5 hour drive) she had a herd (or I guess litter) of the cutest puppies I ever did see. There were so many of them they literally flooded my body.

So many paws;

IMG_2690

So many little kisses;

So many wagging tails; and

IMG_2692

So many playful barks and bites.

Then my little nuggs hopped onto my lap, sunk right into my chest, and gave me the cutest puppy dog eyes ever. She laid there for a good couple minutes (which is huge for a 6 week old pup) and always came back in between play fights with her siblings to see me. That is when I knew I was not leaving without a dog.

So I spent about an hour there that lovely Sunday afternoon. When I was leaving the lady asked if I had a favourite. I of course said “um yuppers, she is that cute one over there hiding under the car in the shade”. The lady asked if I had a name in mind and I said “Nugget”, and that was that.

IMG_2827

No deposit required, she said she wanted to ensure everyone actually wanted the puppy and that it would go to a good home. She said I could come pick her up in a week. So, a week later I was officially a dog mom and I couldn’t have been happier.

IMG_2796
This was supposed to be her starter/temporary collar, but currently she is still wearing it extended to the longest length it will go. Definitely due for an update!
IMG_2834
She was only 9 lbs when I brought her home! She fills out the bed a way more now!

7 week old Nugget was a silky smooth baby. 7.5 month old Nugget fur is a different story!
IMG_2902

Moral of the story:

If you have a soft spot for pups, had a few glasses of wine, booked a viewing …. you are getting a dog. Once you lock eyes with a puppy cuddled up on your chest, it is a done deal.

Also, here is a current picture of her. Her looks have changed with all the scruff that comes with age! Don’t worry though, there will be more posts with her in them!

IMG_4408
Nugget at 7.5 months old, giving me sass because I wanted a picture and wasn’t throwing the ball for her. Don’t worry though I threw it after….many, many times!

Do you guys have any pets? If so, how did you go about getting them?!

p.s. Nugget is currently sitting beside me editing for me to ensure its all accurate.

Until next time,

xoxo

Life Update | September 2018

Life Update | September 2018

Hello friends,

Today I bring you a life update. Over this summer I have not been consistent with my posting. I moved to a new city, got a new full time job, tried to explore around and keep up with all the social activities.

However, even with all these new changes something was still off. I was not feeling fulfilled or happy with what I was doing with my life. That is why I chose to go back to school this fall to get educated in what I have always been interested in. The world of Design. I have always loved designing and creating things ever since I was little – I just never understood where to start because I enjoy so many areas of it.

I love creating on the computer, but also hand on projects. I love building, but also delicate close up photography. There are so many areas of “art” I would love to explore, but I have always strayed away from it because naturally I am good at sciences and math. I am not the best drawer out there either and I always thought to do anything in art you need to be good at drawing, but I have been told otherwise so now I guess I will put that information to the test eh!

I am enrolled in the Design Studies certificate program at Algonquin College. My first legit art schooling ever. It is unbelievably nerve wrecking to walk into a classroom and not know how good you will do. I always had an idea of the grade I could get and relatively how hard the course would be because I had taken so many science courses before. Now its completely opposite. I know nothing about this side of school – scary yet exciting at the same time.

Going back to school at the completely opposite end of the spectrum I am use to is forcing me to open up my mind to new ideas and to truly embrace the creative side of myself that I have always wanted to explore. The scientific side of me would of never started this blog – but the creative side said go for it.

That is was I am doing – going for it.

I am excited to see where my mind will be come April when this course is done, but for now its a mystery to you and me. I will keep you guys updated with my thoughts and where my head is at with the art world. Hopefully I love it.

I am 22 – now is my time to explore what I want to do.

Find what makes me happy.

And flourish.

… while of course protecting the environment as I go because without our environment we could not be here doing what we love.

Let me know your thoughts and if you have ever done something like this before, I would love to hear about your experiences πŸ™‚

Until next time,

xoxo

Tulip Festival | May 2018

Tulip Festival | May 2018

Hello friends,

I will just let you know right off the bat that this post is going to be 99% beautiful flower pictures from this weekend! I know there is an overwhelming amount of pictures here, but I couldn’t cut it back anymore. They were so pretty and colourful!

DSC_7354

This weekend we went to the Tulip Festival in Ottawa, ON Canada. It was on Sunday. We had a relaxing morning and then got ready and headed out. It took us probably around 20 minutes to find a parking spot and then we had to walk back to where the tulips were. There was soo many vehicles and people everywhere it was a little overwhelming! haha Definitely worth it though!

DSC_7358DSC_7357DSC_7359

As soon as you got to this park all you saw was flowers. It was absolutely stunning. We were right by the water too which made the day even more beautiful. The weather was perfect and the sun was shining. It would have been a great thing to do with your mom if she lived in Ottawa! (#mothersday woo!)

DSC_7385DSC_7433DSC_7436

This day has now gotten me obsessed with flowers in the spring time. I can’t stop looking at them! The colours are so vibrant.

DSC_7417DSC_7413DSC_7395DSC_7398

Like I said, there was a lot of people there and everyone wanted pictures in front of the flowers! There was soo many little photoshoots going on. All I was focused on was the flowers though! haha And my loving boyfriend had the patience of an angel with me stopping every 2 feet to snap a picture of another flower that looks the same.

DSC_7383DSC_7367DSC_7363

I wanted to play around with different angles and focusing depths. Trying to get professional looking flower pics!

DSC_7371DSC_7445DSC_7375DSC_7373DSC_7424DSC_7426DSC_7411

Down below is a slide show of three pictures. If you look closely you can see that there is a little bug flying in the first one, it lands on the flower in the second one and then in the third one you can see his little shadow behind the petal! I didn’t even know I got this until I looked at the pictures when we got home. So, what I learned from this was that you can never take too many pictures of the same thing!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

So once you walk through all the flowers, you’ll get to the “food court” of the festival. There was a lot of cool little food trucks and stands with basically anything you wanted.

DSC_7420

And of course we made a pit stop for some fries and later on ice cream! It was 24 degrees out, us Canadians need our ice cream when its that hot! haha

DSC_7454

They also had a small band playing live music!

DSC_7458DSC_7456DSC_7450DSC_7451DSC_7452DSC_7453

At the other side of the festival we walked down by the boardwalk along the water. Such a beautiful day to be outside. There were people kayaking and canoeing all over the water.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Anyways, that is it folks! I told you it would be mostly pictures! Next post will be back to continuing the winter road story, I just had to share these beautiful flowers with you all! Have you ever been to a tulip festival? (This was my first!) What is your favourite type of flower? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time,

xoxo

The Next Chapter

The Next Chapter

Hello friends,

I’m back.

Sorry I left unannounced. Life got insane. Like holy crap.

But on the plus side of the last few insanely busy and hectic months I got lots of pictures! Which I will be sharing regularly again now that I am almost settled… well not really, but posts will be back!

So near the end of February this year, my boyfriend and I found out that he got a job in Ottawa, ON Canada. This job is much better then the one he had, so of course he took it. I didn’t mind moving. Obviously it is very stressful and costly, but its also really exciting and spontaneous of us. We are usually very routine people haha so looking at each other and being like… “ya babe lets do it…lets move across the country!” is absolutely uncharacteristic of us, both individually and as a couple, but here we are!

Now, once we officially knew that we were moving, shit got real – real quick. We literally sold 90% of our apartment belongings in a week, packed everything up, and headed out. My boyfriend came to Ottawa straight away to begin his new job. I went back up to Fort McMurray and painted my parents house and then went to Europe and surprised my sister! She is teaching in Bristol, UK right now. My parents and I all went over seas to London and toured around a bit, spending most of our time with my sister in Bristol. Man was she ever happy to see me… uh well I mean the parents too obviously… haha she knew my parents were coming but not me! We surprised her and she surprised us at the airport. It was a win for everyone!

So the trip was about a week and a half and there will many posts from all the pictures so don’t you worry! Once back from Europe it was back to work at the parents house. Finishing up things so I could jet out of there! (lol just kidding … love those old folks) But once you have been living on your own its hard to go back to living with your parents! Who can relate?!

Anyways, that next Monday we (mother and I) were off to Ontario! My mom with the truck packed to the roof and I with my old rusty Rav4 loaded to the ground, hit the crappy pavement running. Bright and early trying to grab a quick McDonalds coffee before we headed out, but as per usual it took way longer then expected.

We took 3 days to drive 37 hours across the country. Lots of driving, lots of coffee, lots of music and audio books, and lots of laughs and memories. I will always appreciate road trips, even if my butt is numb for most of the time. When we arrived in Massey, ON Canada it was around dinner time. My grandma had all the goodies cooked up for us.

Well hold on now, she didn’t know I was coming either! I surprised my grandparents with the news that I was moving to Ontario in person! They were very surprised to see me unannounced like that, but also very happy…I think! Lots of hugs were given and received and smiles went all around. With me living in Ottawa now, I am only 5.5 hours away from the grandparents instead of 37! Much better eh!

I stayed with them in Massey that first night, and then we headed to Sudbury, ON (1 hour drive). This is where I got to surprise my cousins, etc. We hungout that night and ate Chinese food. A grandparent classic!

The next day I went off to Ottawa in the afternoon (5.5 hour drive). Since then (almost a week now) I have been running around trying to get lots of important adult things done and in the back of my mind the entire time all I could think was, I need to update my blog peeps on whats been going on!

And there you have it. My last couple of months update. Hectic and impulsive but worth it so far! Now time to finish up all of the things I need to get done and find me a job haha moving provinces isn’t all fun and games!

I promise to upload a regular post in the very near future. Many many cool and exciting pictures and stories to come! How have your last few months been? Any big or exciting changes happen?! I would love to hear down below πŸ™‚

Total Drive time: 43.5 hours πŸ˜‰

Q&A Time!Β

  1. If you could pick any age to be again what age would it be and why? I would pick to go back to when I was 7 or 8? The age you were in grade 3! haha I would love to go back to that age because firstly I miss being a kid lol but I also had a great teacher that year, Madame Jenkins. At Christmas time (my most favourite time of year, as you all very well know) she had this amazing book of christmas gnomes. She would read us a chapter everyday until break. I had never loved school that much haha story time was the best!
  2. Name one of your most embarrassing moments?Β Now let me just say, I have had quite a few haha but for now I will settle with sharing just one… to save you all from cringing too much! I grew up doing competitive gymnastics and probably around age 6 I would say, this embarrassing moment happened. I was wearing my brand new vibrant pink gym suit that had a checkered pattern on it, which I called my picnic basket suit lol, for the first time. And lucky for me, it was one of those training sessions where the ENTIRE gym does a warm up together … yup keep that in your mind. So I thought I should pee before we start! So I went to the bathroom which is right beside the main floor where everyone was, and little me forgot to lock the door. Now, with gymnastic suits you need to completely strip when you pee, oh the joy πŸ™‚ And yup you bet it happened … one of the older coaches opened up the door on me and I was exposed to the entire club! I was devastated …. little to say I didn’t wear that suit for a long time!
  3. What is one place you would love to visit and why?Β I would absolutely love to visit New York in the winter time. Specifically around Christmas! Now, I know this may be very “basic” or whatever, but it would make my heart so happy! To see all their decorations and lights! πŸ™‚ I just picture myself in the movie ELF haha one day I will check this off my list!
  4. If you could only pick one food item to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?Β Now this is a hard one! I love food #foodie ❀ but I think I might have to go with pizza? I make a mean homemade pizza and its always so good! So maybe? But I also love a good hearty bowl of homemade spag! (spag = spaghetti …. whaddup father unit (aka Howard) <– probably makes the best sauce)
  5. What is your favourite thing about blogging?Β I love many things about blogging, but my favourite thing at the moment would have to be the little community I have made on here! I have made great friends and I always look forward to our little chats in the comment section!
  6. What is your current favourite song to listen to? This is difficult because, as my sister knows oh too well, I am terrible at knowing song names or artists lol I can’t even think of any right off the top of my head that I know! sorry πŸ˜› I do like a mix of a lot of music though, with my favourite being old rock, country (grew up in Alberta I can’t help it!), and acoustic/contemporary.
  7. What can you binge watch all day?Β 100% Greys Anatomy all the way. I love that show! I also absolutely love The Office though hah there is never an episode where you aren’t crying because you are laughing too hard!
  8. Name one of your biggest pet peeves?Β I have a couple but one of them is people who chew with their mouth open! I cannot stand it!
  9. So far what have you done for the day?Β  Well today is Friday and I am off work for the day which is nice! I woke up, worked out, ate breakfast, showered, got ready, and now I am at Starbucks writing this!
  10. Which season is your favourite and why?Β Well if Christmas was a season itself I would say that, but it isn’t lol. So I would have to say summer. I grew up being outside 24/7 and it makes me appreciate having a few months (more then a few months if you don’t live in Canada haha) where you can do that everyday!

Phew! I am finally done the questions!

My questions for the nominees are:Β

  1. Do you have any pets? If so, what do you have and if not what pet would you like?
  2. Where were you born and where are you currently living?
  3. What do you believe is your greatest life accomplishment so far?
  4. What is your best childhood memory?
  5. What is your favourite sweet treat?
  6. What are 2 goals you have set for yourself this year?
  7. What is your dream job and what are you doing to get yourself there?
  8. If you could have a conversation with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
  9. Why did you start blogging?
  10. Tropical vacation, snowy vacation, or alpine vacation and why?

Now for the nominees! Here we go, I tag:Β Rebecca Rose, Miss Andrada, Bryanna Sherbo, The Untitled One, and Sarah Scarr!Β If you would like to read their responses to these questions I have linked all their blogs with their names! πŸ™‚

I hope you all enjoyed this post and getting to know me a bit better! Nominees you are tagged so get blogging! Friends in the comment section, feel free to answer some or all of the questions too, I would love to hear your answers!

Have a fabulous weekend friends πŸ™‚

Until next time,

xoxo

Well, it’s almost the end of January…

Well, it’s almost the end of January…

Hello friends,

I just wanted to pop in here to see how all of you are doing! I know January is like THE MONTH for resolutions and all of that jazz, and by this time we are usually slipping away from them. So I thought I would update you on how I am doing and then you can do the same in the comments!

As most of you probably read, I wrote up a post on my new years resolutions (click here if you haven’t read it!).

The first resolution on my list was to eat more veggies! And so far I am still succeeding with that! We have only gone out to eat once so far this month, and it was for breakfast so I didn’t really make any changes there because I wasn’t going to have a side salad for breakfast haha but I have been absolutely loving those salad mixes from the store! I use to always just make my own salad at home, but then I would waste ingredients because I didn’t find it tasty enough. Now we buy 2 of those salad mixes every week and they are gone by Wednesday! I told my boyfriend we need to start buying 3 because we love them so much! So, if you are struggling with getting those veggies in try the salad mixes. They are always exciting and there are always new ones to try!

Second resolution on my list was to make more time for my blog. Now this one I think I have decently stuck to. I do take my laptop to a coffee shop on the weekends still to work on it, which I enjoy because its me time (aka time away from the boy toy… love you babe πŸ™‚ ). However, I have started to space out my work more so that I don’t cram it all into one day per week like I was doing before. This makes it more enjoyable to do I find! However, sometimes I can get a bit lazy like I did this morning and pick to watch Netflix instead of work on it! Whoops!

And now for my completely failed resolution so far … listen to the news more! I have found this hard to do haha I use to drive a lot because my second job was 35 mins each way, but now I am only at one job which is 5 mins away from my house! So I never listen to the radio anymore. Even at home, we never really watch TV. Netflix is what we go to… so I still need to work on this one. I will keep you guys updated to see how I am doing!

Last but not least, was to go on 1 or 2 good trips! My boyfriend and I are planning to go on one at Christmas, which will be so exciting! It is not set in stone or anything, but we have talked about it… now time to plan and save up! We will also probably do at least 1 in the summer. I am not too worried about getting a head start on this resolution right now since its only 3 weeks into 2018 lol Obviously you guys will know when I go on any trips!

Well, those are my updates. So far 3/4 are going good haha I will get to 4/4 by the end of the year! Also another smaller resolution that kind of goes with eating more veggies and being healthier is sticking to my workout plan! I am currently on week 4/12 of a new program and I have not missed one workout! So I am pretty proud about that πŸ™‚

Don’t forget to update me with your resolutions/goals for 2018 down below! What have you accomplished so far?

Until next time,

xoxo

A Herd of Elk in Banff | AB, Canada 2017

A Herd of Elk in Banff | AB, Canada 2017

Hello friends,

I am sitting here today in a coffee shop staring at my screensaver on my laptop. It is of the herd of elk my boyfriend and I spotted in Banff! This was on our very first morning there and it was incredible.

All throughout growing up I have seen so much wildlife. I was very fortunate to grow up on the greenbelt in Fort McMurray, AB (back when the city was still quite small) where we got to see a variety of wildlife through our kitchen window. It came to a point where my dad would say “Girls! Come down here there are deer in the backyard!” and we were like ya ya we know haha Its the same thing for the Northern Lights; I never realized that most people don’t ever see them in their life. We would get out of the old purple safari van coming home from gymnastics late at night and see the Northern Lights before we went inside the house! So casual and common for us!

Anyways, back to the elk! Like you would have read in one of my latest posts (linked here if you haven’t read it), we got up early to drive to Canmore so I could take pictures of the sunrise, but sadly it was snowing out and the sky was pure white all day. So we went driving around. On our way driving to Two Jack Lake we saw a car pulled over and we were trying to see if they were looking at wildlife, however we couldn’t see any so we just kept going. Now on the way back though, that same vehicle was parked there! They were probably parked there for 20 mins or so. And now I understood why! haha There was a herd of elk back in the trees all lying down and sleeping! It was so adorable and surreal to see!

DSC_4476

So of course I was like “pull over pull over pull over!!” and the boyfriend obliged and did so πŸ™‚

DSC_4462

And voila! I got these pictures that you see! I am oh so happy I had my new lens with me or else these would not have turned out as good. Because if you know anything about wildlife, you need to give them their space. Now as a photographer, sometimes that is very difficult to do because you are so fascinated with everything and want all the pictures at every different angle possible. However,Β  I was respectful to them and left lots of room.

DSC_4500

Now I will tell you about this carload of people though… they were not too smart. So first of all, they had iphones as their cameras, which is all fine and dandy but the zoom is quite .. well shitty to say the least πŸ™‚ So this lady got out with her little iphone and was walking towards this massive herd of elk, like so close I was actually scared for her! The herd was in the bush right, so we can only see however many they want us to see. There was probably so many more further back in the bush too.

DSC_4495
One of my favourite pictures

Now in Banff, if you ever go, you will be one of these touristy people and maybe not from Canada too. Banff has so many tourists from all over the world who have no clue how to act with these very large animals. Which is more so sad for the animals then the idiot people. But I will just give you some advice if you are ever in this situation, go ahead and take pictures if you want but give them their space. Never go sticking an iphone in their face because you don’t know how they are going to react!

DSC_4488

Anyways, I got back into the car and my hands were frozen so I had to sit on them and let them warm up before I checked if I got any decent pictures haha and I did so I was like okay babe we can go now. And he was like “no, I want to see how this plays out” haha talking about the iphone tourist!

DSC_4452

But we did not end up staying, I made him leave eventually. After this adventure we went into town and got small gloves I could wear while taking pictures in -25 degrees because holy cow do your hands ever freeze! And I can’t wear my big knitted mitts when I take pictures or else I will hit every button on the camera.

DSC_4498

DSC_4459
This was the main little part of the herd that was showing themselves in the more open coverage.

I felt so lucky to have been able to see these beautiful animals in their natural state. If you ever do go to Banff and you go for a drive I guarantee you will see some animals so have your camera ready.

Have you guys ever been to Banff or seen elk where you live? I would love to know in the comments!

Until next time,

xoxo

The Grizzly House Review| Banff, AB 2017

The Grizzly House Review| Banff, AB 2017

Hello friends,

Today’s post will be a review of The Grizzly House in Banff, Alberta Canada! The Grizzly House is a famous fondue restaurant in Banff. Ever since I was young I knew what it was but never went there! There is a rustic/casual atmosphere welcoming to both families or couples.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary while we were in Banff for New Years and he made us reservations at The Grizzly House! Now our reservation was for 8 o’clock or something so very late after a long day of snowboarding out in the cold! However, it was definitely a cool experience and I recommend it to all who visit Banff!

I will say however it is a more expensive dinner. If you want the fondue meal (which we did obviously..duh) there are a few options that you can pick from. It is a four course meal where you have options for every course! For the fondue dinner option, at least 2 or more people have to be ordering it.

IMG_9286

This was what I chose for my first course. It was their french onion soup. Now, before this meal I have never tried this kind of soup, but I always heard of it. And I will be honest I thought it was something completely different! haha I was expecting this creamy delicious onion soup … it was nothing of the sort. Well, kind of kidding. It was pretty good! The flavour was awesome, but those chunks on top were bread and I am not the biggest fan of soggy bread in my soup (same goes for soggy crackers .. ew!). Underneath there was more of a broth with caramelized onions in it, which i did enjoy!

IMG_9287

Here is a flat lay of the table when we got our soup. We had our wine, which was delicious! I ended up ordering the same one on New Years haha it was a sauvignon blanc from New Zealand. They gave us each a million forks, which lets be honest, who knows what fork is for what! Not me! So I just guessed haha still had one left over at the end so I probably did it wrong.

IMG_9289

Anyways now we are onto round 2!Β  I mean course 2 .. oops! When I get a four course meal it almost feels like I am doing different battle rounds with the food.. which one will defeat me?! We will not know until my stomach says “No More!”… spoiler: this time I made it to the end πŸ˜‰

So back on topic, we ordered the cheese fondue. Very good choice I must say. It was made with some type of red wine and came with nice fresh bread to dip in it! It also came with fully caramelized garlic cloves. The waiter said that if we like garlic we could add a few and smoosh them around… we added them all! haha SO good!

IMG_9293

Next came out the main course … all the meat! Sorry vegans hahah (aka my sista)

So for the meat course, there were 6Β  different ones you could choose from depending on what meat you wanted/how many oz you wanted in total. I ended up getting the Hunter Fondue Dinner which had buffalo, wild boar and venison (my favourite) and my boyfriend got the biggest, and most expensive, plate of course, which was the Exotic Fondue Dinner. It included buffalo, venison, shark, kangaroo, alligator, frog legs, and rattlesnake. It was suppose to come with ostrich, but they were out so he got kangaroo instead!Β  So much food, but very cool to try!

I didn’t get a picture with the hot rock (what we cooked the meat on) fully loaded because I was starving and it got the best of me…next time I will do better! haha To cook the meat you can choose either the hot rock or hot oil. The hot rock is what they recommend though and it was more appealing to me since I am not a huge fan of very oily food!

IMG_9297

With the meat came four different sauces: onion bacon, spicy tomato, horseradish dijon, honey garlic, and teriyaki abbe! The listing goes from right to left with the teriyaki abbe in the middle. My boyfriend was most excited for the horseradish one and the teriyaki abbe got me! My least favourite was the spicy tomato, but all still good! Definitely tried everyone as should you if you ever go πŸ™‚

Next we move onto desert. And yes yes I know the restaurant is for the cool meat and everything, but honestly the chocolate fondue at the end was so utterly amazing!! It was a melted toblerone bar!

To dip in this delicious melted goodness was strawberries, banana, melon, orange, apple, and wafer chunks. Personally the strawberry and wafers were my favourite to dip! I set one wafer piece aside till I was done with everything else to dip so I could finish with my favourite haha does anyone else do that? We tried to finish all of the chocolate because it was so good but we simply couldn’t.

By the time we finished up with this we were so full! I tried to pace myself throughout the meal, but its quite hard when everything is so good!

The tables that they had were pretty cool too because they were all made of old corks put in this coating to hold it all together. Very neat!

Rating: 8/10

Yes I know some of you may be shocked..”why only an 8?!” First of all, the restaurant was freezing cold, I ate with my coat on for most of the meal. Not sure if the heat wasn’t working, but damn when its -28 outside you need heat! So that made the meal less pleasant. There are also these phones placed all around the restaurant that ring and you can answer them and I guess talk to another table? So that is kind of cool, but also annoying to have phones ringing all throughout the meal. Lastly, I am not a huge fan of cooking my own food when I go out to eat. It was a kind of cool experience, but I wasn’t quite sure how to cook some of it so I ended up with a few raw pieces that I couldn’t eat. Once they see that you have no more meat on the hot rock they take it away, so I could not even throw it back on!

Besides those few not amazing things, the rest was great! I would recommend to try it out if you are ever in the area and want a more expensive/unique dinning experience. Like both of the fondue’s were amazing, the cheese and chocolate, and they are a fondue restaurant so they nailed that!

Let me know if you have any questions about the restaurant and I will do my best to answer them! Also a question for all of you, have you ever been to The Grizzly House? If so, how was your experience? I would love to know! Also, if there are any other cool fondue restaurants you’ve been to!

P.S sorry for the iphone quality pictures, we were on a fancy date so I didn’t wanna bring out the big gun!

Until next time,

xoxo

17 Things 2017 Taught Me

17 Things 2017 Taught Me

Hello friends,

In today’s post I will be sharing a few things that I have learnt in 2017. This year was an interesting one to say the least. Some things did not go as planned, both a mix of better than expected and worse, but none the less it’s all life lessons.

  1. There are many stepping stones in life.Β Your first job won’t be your last, so just be grateful that you are employed.
  2. Everything takes time.Β You can’t rush anything in life. I can’t rush into an amazing environmental career just like I can’t make this blog blow up in a day. You need to work hard towards what you want and in time you will get there.
  3. Saying no is harder then saying yes.Β We have all been in situations where you don’t want to say yes, but saying no feels impossible. Well its not, so next time you want to say no try it out.
  4. Its okay to do things that scare you. Breaking out of your comfort zone is scary but amazing. It will do wonders for you. If I never broke out of mine, I would not have this blog today or be able to share it on facebook for my family to see.
  5. When in doubt listen to your little voice inside you, it probably knows what its talking about. Unless you have anxiety like me, then sometimes you have to ignore it and go grab experiences by the …. well you know πŸ™‚
  6. Less friends = more.Β  I have never had a large friend group and I don’t need one. I love having a few close friends who are truly there for me.
  7. Don’t be afraid to do things by yourself.Β  This year I have really started to do this and it was challenging at first (and still is sometimes). I go exploring for pictures by myself and also edit/write in coffee shops alone. Now I am growing to love me time.
  8. You’ll grow as a person every year.Β  Its okay.
  9. Don’t judge people. Everyone around you has a story that you have no clue about.
  10. You are stronger than you think.Β Until you are pushed, you will never truly be able to know what you can handle.
  11. Don’t waste your energy on things you can’t control.Β  This is something I need to work on.
  12. Stop overthinking every little thing about your life.Β  Another biggie I need to work on, I have over thought way to much about my life so far. I am young and need to chill out.
  13. There are unlimited things to learn in life.Β  You are never to old to learn!
  14. Listen to your elders even if you just met them, they have some life experience that you don’t.Β  I have met some very intelligent people this year that have come into my life for one conversation and let me tell you, some things they have told me have stuck.
  15. You will never have your life perfectly worked out so just relax and enjoy the ride.Β  Go with the flow! Life is not perfect and neither are you!
  16. If you aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves you will never lose your shirt. (Love ya dad)
  17. Believe in yourself. It does not mater if everyone else believes in you, if you don’t, nothing will happen.

Let me know if any of these resonate with you and if there are any other things you have learnt in 2017 that we can add to the list! Leave them in the comments below πŸ™‚

I hope you all learnt at least one thing in 2017 and that you can use it to improve in 2018!

Until next time,

xoxo
